Warren M. Thompson is the President and Chairman of Thompson Hospitality Corporation
Today, with approximately 2,800 employees, Thompson Hospitality has been recognized by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of the country’s top 100 minority businesses with over $200 million total revenue. Most recently, Thompson Hospitality was ranked #10 among Food Management Magazine “Top 50 Food Management Companies” list.
Thompson Hospitality now operates dining centers in over 45 states at K-12 schools, over 20 Historically Black Colleges and Universities and large corporate accounts. With Thompson Hospitality’s diverse portfolio, The Company serves over 100,000 meals daily.
Thompson Hospitality also operates several retail food establishments including casual restaurants, formal restaurants and upscale wine and cheese shops.
In 1992, Warren Thompson founded Thompson Hospitality Corporation with a leveraged buyout and purchase of thirty one (31) Bob's Big Boy restaurants. Thompson converted the Bob’s Big Boys into Shoney's restaurants. In 1997, he formed a new division, Thompson Hospitality Services, L.L.C., in partnership with Compass Group North America. Thompson Hospitality and Compass Group operate various food service accounts such as Microsoft, American Express, Bank of America, IBM, and Chicago Public Schools.
He serves on the Board of Directors of several corporations and universities, including: University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors where he serves on the Finance Committee, Student Affairs, Audit and Compliance Committee and serves as Chair for the Diversity Committee.
Warren is also on the Board of Directors for Compass Group North America, and Pepsi-Cola African American Advisory Board, and HILB ROGAL & HOBBS. Within the HRH Board, Warren is a member of the Corporate Affairs Committee, the Audit Committee and the Corporate Governance Committee.
Warren has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by the National MBA Association and in 2006 received the Hitchcock Humanitarian Award. He is also recognized for his leadership in giving over $500K annually in scholarships and his personal philanthropic efforts.
